Is Earth’s Own a Canadian brand and where are your beverages made?
Earth’s Own Food Company Inc is proudly a Canadian brand that is based in Burnaby, B.C. Psst, that’s the city Leonardo DiCaprio claims has the most beautiful people in the world. Just sayin’.
We manufacture our products in three different cities of this awesome country. Our western Canadian facilities are located on Annacis Island, in Delta, BC, and our eastern Canadian facilities are in Mississauga, ON and Quebec City, QC.
Can I get my fav products delivered to my home?
Yuuup! Head on over to our amazon page and get a case of your fav shelf stable plant-based goodness delivered straight to yo’ door.
If you’re looking for our chilled m*lk, we’re not set up for that just yet but it’s something our plant-based dream team are fo’sho working on
You claim on your website and packaging to have been voted Canada's best tasting oat m*lk, but how did you measure that?
We know, right?! We’re pretty stoked to have the honour of winning best tasting oat m*lk in a study of 300 Canadians who compared our Earth’s Own Oat M*lk and Silk Oat Yeah. Our results showed a staggering 79% like our Oat M*lk more than Silk Oat Yeah. Read more here!
Your front of pack claims that oats are grown using 7x less water than almond or cow’s milk. How do you figure that?
The amazing thing about growing oats in Canada (think beautiful, expansive prairies) is that they don’t need a lot of help to grow. Just good old-fashioned rainwater & sunshine. And because there is no irrigation or heavy pesticide used, it doesn’t use or pollute the groundwater.
You may ask how we figured all this out. The good folks who conducted the original Water Footprint study have an amazingly scientific methodology that we followed with a full report to back-up our findings.
You say your oat m*lk is unsweetened, so what’s up with the sugar?
We hear ya loud and clear! Oats are naturally high in starch and contains some sugars. We use natural enzymes to cut whole oats which means we get a creamy (and delicious) liquid form instead of it thickening (like in oatmeal). During this process, the natural long chain carbohydrates are “cut” into smaller chain carbohydrates which is actually the sugar.
Long story short, we don’t add sugar into our product but it is actually produced from our processing.
Pretty cool, eh?
Your Earth’s Own Oat Chocolate carton says it’s made from 50% less sugar than chocolate dairy milk. How did you calculate this?
Pretty amazing eh! Yes, our Oat Chocolate is made with 50% less sugar than chocolate dairy milk as per the Canadian Nutrient Files of 1% M.F. Chocolate Milk.
What is the Canadian Nutrient File you ask? It’s a database that reports out the different nutritional profiles of standards in over 5,000 types of food here in Canada. It’s pretty awesome- check out this link with code 4711 to see the stats on chocolate dairy milk.
Why do I need to shake the product before using?
So you can dance to “Hey Ya!” by OutKast properly! But also, shaking before serving helps to maintain product consistency. Over time, solids, like cocoa powder and vitamins and minerals, may settle to the bottom of the carton.
How soon should I use Earth’s Own beverages after I open them?
After opening, our products are best when consumed within 7-10 days and stored in yo’ fridge.
Please note, unless this is our shelf stable m*lks, all our chilled products should be refrigerated prior to opening.
What’s the difference between your chilled and shelf stable?
We’re pretty darn proud that we don’t use preservatives in our products and the difference is actually the packaging used. Shelf stable products are packed in aseptic packaging and conditions that allow the product to have a longer shelf life at room temperature.
Pretty cool eh?
Are Earth’s Own cartons recyclable?
We use sustainable and recyclable material for our packaging wherever possible. Visit here for more information on carton recycling in Canada or check with your local recycling centre to see to recycle in your area.
Can I feed Earth’s Own beverages to my child?
Our plant-based m*lks are appropriate for children aged 2 years and older as part of a well-balanced diet. Please note, our products are not designed to be a replacement for breast milk or infant formula.
I bought one of your shelf stable products and there was no seal when I twisted the cap. Is there a tamper-proof seal missing?
We use a super simple ‘twist and click’ security seal. When opening your product for the first time, as long as the cap and tamper ring are intact, the seal is super secure. When you twist the cap you’ll hear a CLICK, which breaks this seal and punctures the foil simultaneously. Although this works differently than our chilled cartons, it accomplishes the same thing!
Allergens + ingredients
Are Earth’s Own beverages gluten-free, dairy free and 100% Vegan?
You bet! All our products are gluten-free, lactose- and dairy-free, and suitable for those who cannot or choose not to consume dairy milk.
Let’s talk more about gluten and oats. The oats we purchase are all certified gluten-free and our products meet Health Canada’s requirement of “gluten-free”.
What’s more, all ingredients, flavours, vitamins and minerals are plant- and mineral-based, and suitable for those following a vegan diet. Plus, we never use MSG in any of our products, and all our flavours are natural.
How about nuts, is your Oat M*lk nut free? You say it’s produced in a facility that also processes nuts… I’m confused.
Yeah, we understand that could be confusing. Earth’s Own is Canada’s largest producer of plant-based m*lks with a wide range of products being processed on our production lines.
To ensure that our products are free from tree nuts and soy allergens we have set up our manufacturing facilities to have strict allergen control programs to manage and eliminate the risk of cross contamination associated with allergens.
Are all of Earth’s Own products organic?
Our So Nice Almond + Soy m*lks and our Naked Oat range of products are Organic. All our other plant-based m*lks are certified non-GMO and never contain preservatives, artificial flavours, colours or additives.
What about your conventional oat m*lk ‘cause I’ve been hearing about glyphosate + pesticides, can you tell me more?
Like all crops, oats sometimes rely on pesticides to control weeds + grubby pests. The good news is that our trusted oat supplier has very strict rules about which pesticides are allowed to touch our oats.
Our supplier provides their farmers with a pretty legit support program that fosters a number of sustainable agricultural practices, including avoiding the use of glyphosate on their oats. Did you know that since 2015 they have required that their farmers do not use glyphosate on their oats? They ensure this by conducting random, weekly sampling and testing to validate their farmers’ compliance.
Are Earth’s Own beverages Kosher?
Yuppers! All our beverages are Kosher products certified Kosher by Kashruth Council of Canada (COR).
What about GMO’s?
Never! Earth’s Own only sources ingredients evaluated by the Non-GMO Project. Every time.
